My sister's kids have been staying with me for a couple of months while she has been focused on finishing her BS (which she did, yesterday! yay, little sis!!) Their last morning with us was filled with mixed emotions, excitement at finally getting my life back, nervous about them going back to the US and starting to miss them a little even before they left.
Time can be so strange, these weeks that they stayed seemed to go on forever and at the same time it seemed to be over in an instant. I am so thankful for this time we had together, thankful that they got to experience the freedom of roaming around and exploring on their own, thankful that I could help out, and thankful that our home was filled with giggles and imaginary worlds. After they left, however, I'm thankful for my quiet house, my uninterrupted creative time, sleeping in and staying up late if that's what I fancy, less laundry, no dinner pressure and listening to whatever I want on whatever volume setting I desire. I truly love my life, and I love having it back.
